Rajeev Khandelwal Reveals Why He Puts Ethics Above 'Tempting' Social Media Culture
In an exclusive chat with Zoom, Rajeev Khandelwal was asked about consciously staying away from the usual celebrity social media patterns, including calling paparazzi or building an aggressive online presence, he responded candidly. "Its easy, I don't want people to peep into my life all the time. I am not telling people to look at this or that, not that I have planned this but whoever is active on social media, it is their choice, their game plan, I respect it, I do it because it is work for me. Sometimes It does get tempting, because of the money involved. sometimes people ask me 'pagal hai kya', you buy your own stuff, just endorse the brand and get done with it. But I believe that I don't wish to sell people anything in the garb of telling them how much I love them. I dont do collabs, I am just on social media just for my fans, I have an account but I am not active. "
He went on to say that Social media should be used a tool where he can say his opinion. "Social media is a platform where I can voice my opinion as and when it is required. Now, with AI coming It is confusing, so if there is any misunderstanding I can use my account to clear the air. And I came on social media to promote my shows and series which I am a part of. Now I have realised, I need it, I can't use someone else's account. And most importantly, I come for the love. But I don't want to get attached to love so much that I always need to be on social media. I can say that it comes down to my basic nature, I don't want to further my career because of someone else's support."
Rajeev Khandelwal On Not Becoming A Parasite On Social Media
The actor admitted that while brand endorsements and influencer culture can be financially tempting, he consciously chooses not to participate in paid collaborations. For him, being who he is matters more than monetisation. “You Slowly Become a Parasite” When asked whether he has faced challenges from filmmakers who expect actors to maintain an active online presence, Rajeev acknowledged that such situations have occurred. "Yes, I did have such challenges. They even ask my manager why I don't have an active page. I do tell them that if this is a key to help my work going forward I don't want it. Once you start seeking validation. there is no stopping you. You slowly become a parasite, because you are falling for temptation. I've always kept away from temptation right from the beginning, and I tell myself that this is not for me, this is for someone else."
