Director Sudha Kongara, released during Pongal, has finally addressed the intense online backlash she has faced amid the releases of her film Parasakthi and Vijay's Jana Nayagan. Speaking about her experience,
the filmmaker revealed that she has been subjected to severe harassment on social media, including what she described as 'vulgar' and 'character-assassinating' messages from certain social media users. She termed them as deeply disturbing and said the abuse was personal. The trolling came after she allegedly received hate Vijay’s fans as her film was supposed to originally go up against his film Jana Nayagan. Vijay’s last outing before he takes a political plunge was postponed after it faced legal hurdles. Now, Sudha Kongara has clarified that there is no rift with Vijay, calling herself his biggest fan.

Explaining her position to India Today, Sudha Kongara said that she is a long-time admirer of Thalapathy Vijay. She expressed disappointment over how the situation came through, stating that the controversy surrounding Jananayagan should never happen to any film or filmmaker. She said "I love Vijay, I am probably his biggest fan, Mr. Vijay is aware of it, In fact we were supposed to do a film together. that didn't pan out, he is one actor I have loved." Dismissing reports of competition, she said "I have watched Vijay's sir's FDFS, never would I compete with him, how does one compete with the biggest star in the country. I have the same immense love for him."

A few days ago, Sudha Kongara shared a threatening post from X that she said originated from a fan account of Vijay. The post, shared by the handle BlastingTamilCinema, read: “CBFC kitta Certificate vangurathu perusu illa ..Anna fans kitta Sorry keetu, Apology Certificate vaangu… Innum 1 week iruku, avanga manichu vitta #Parasakthi oodum (It is not a big deal to get a CBFC certificate. Apologise to fans of Anna, Vijay, and get the apology certificate. There is one more week. They will forgive you. Parasakthi will run).”Sudha Kongara's Parasakthi stars Sivakarthikeyan, Atharvaa Murali and Ravi Mohan in lead roles. It is a sociopolitical drama set in 1960s Tamil Nadu, with the State’s student-led anti-Hindi agitation as the plot.
