Bhooth
Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan, stars Akshay Kumar, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, and others. The film has been performing decently at the box office, earning praise for its humour. This horror comedy was compared to Bhool Bhulaiyaa before its release, but it is a standalone film with new characters and a different story. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the movie managed to attract viewers who enjoyed its accessible, family-leaning tone and the novelty of a theatrical outing after some time. Amid this, a report suggests that Ektaa Kapoor is eyeing a sequel to Bhooth Bangla in hoping to expand it to a larger horror-comedy franchise.

Bhooth Bangla plot
The story of the film
Bhooth Bangla revolves around Arjun (Akshay Kumar), who becomes the owner of a haunted ancestral mansion in a quiet village called Mangalpur. While preparing for sister Meera's (Mithila Palkar) wedding, unsettling supernatural events begin to disrupt their plans.
Meanwhile, there is the mystery of the spooky legend of Vadhusur, an evil demon associated with a long-forgotten underground temple. As Arjun investigates the building's past, he encounters terrified villagers and a mysterious female spirit entangled in a tree. The film blends supernatural elements with Priyadarshan's signature style of slapstick, chaotic comedy. The source of the terrifying elements is the sinister rituals mentioned in Indian folklore, mythology, and ancient texts. Meanwhile, Bhooth Bangla features Akshay Kumar in two roles, Arjun Acharya and Madhav Acharya. Wamiqa Gabbi also has a double role as Priya and Chitra. Tabu plays Yashodha, while Paresh Rawal plays Jagdish Manikchand Roopkamal Kewalramani. Rajpal Yadav portrays Sunder “Balli” Bajwa. The film also casts late veteran actor Asrani, Jisshu Sengupta, Manoj Joshi, and others.
