Ranbir
Kapoor's Animal was one of the biggest blockbuster movies of 2023. The action-thriller set cash registers ringing and shattered several box office records. It opened to polarising reactions from critics and audiences alike. However, the film worked exceptionally well at the ticket window. Three years down the line, Animal is ready to be released in Japan. Ahead of its grand premiere, Sandeep Reddy Vanga spilled beans on the film's fight sequences. During a press conference, the filmmaker discussed how he got the idea of designing the fight scenes in facets - one with axe, machine gun, and another with a machine. Apart from Ranbir, the film featured Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in key roles.
How Sandeep Reddy Vanga planned Animal fight scenes
During a press conference, Sandeep shed light on filming
Ranbir's almost 19-minute fight sequence with assassins in Animal. The director revealed why he wanted to music to play in that sequence. "See, usually what happens is when you are making a film, the fighters who come to fight are not the real characters, it's the choreographer's team. I wanted to hide their face and so we got animal masks, and it looked a little different. And we got a Marathi song."
The filmmaker went on reveal the reason behind wanting a certain length to keep the action as an interval. "I wanted Ranvijay Singh seem to be injured in the first part of the second half, where he was getting treated and all that. So for that, the action has to be gory and serious and real, so that he'll be injured enough and he'll be sitting at home doing nothing."Sandeep added that it was all interlinked. And it's because when one knows where to reach in the screenplay, they need to prepare accordingly. "So based on that thought, I got this idea of designing the fight in facets, like one with the axe, one with the machine gun, and one with that big machine (where he) is sitting and shooting," he added.
