Madhuri clarified in the Zoom Spotlight Sessions episode that there was no reason to be disrespectful towards Sridevi and they shared a cordial relationship despite being each other’s contemporaries. She told, “There was no reason to be disrespectful or anything. She was someone who worked hard and I was similar and I think we recognised that.”
Madhuri replaced Sridevi in Kalank
While Madhuri and Sridevi were pitted against each other in the initial stages of their careers, the former’s gesture when the latter passed away was lauded by fans. Sridevi was locked to play one of the leads in Karan Johar’s Kalank before her untimely demise in 2018. Madhuri was on board after the tragedy. The late actress’ elder daughter, Janhvi Kapoor, shared a picture of her mother with the actress and wrote, “Abhishek Varman’s next film was very close to mom’s heart ...Dad, Khushi and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film...”At an earlier event, the Dhadak star said, “I was excited to see her in Kalank from the audience point of view. I think the teaser of ‘Kalank’ and every character’s look in the film is looking really beautiful so, I am really excited to see that film.”In Mrs Deshpande, Madhuri plays the titular role of a convicted serial killer, who helps the police solve a series of murders that were similar to her modus operandi. The show is streaming on JioHotstar.
