Kangana
Ranaut is officially heading back to the sets for one of the biggest projects in her career. After a decade of rumors and fans constantly asking for an update, the sequel to the massive hit Queen is moving into the production phase this month. As per the latest reports, the actress is set to start filming for Queen 2 toward the end of April. This is a major professional return for Ranaut, who has been busy balancing her movie work with her political career over the last few months.
Queen 2 shoot to begin soon
This upcoming sequel of Queen isn't a direct continuation of where we left off in 2014. As reported by Mid-day, the story builds on those core themes of standing on your own feet and being independent, the stuff that made the first movie a total cultural phenomenon. The character of Rani has grown up quite a bit. In this new chapter, she’s shown as a sophisticated city dweller rather than the shy girl everyone met in Rajouri Garden years ago. Even though she still has that trademark quirkiness, the sequel is all about her navigating the messiness of modern urban life with a lot more confidence.
Unlike the first movie, which became famous for those beautiful international scenes in Paris and Amsterdam, Queen 2 is staying right here in India. The plot follows Rani as she travels through different big cities across the country. The idea behind this shift is to offer a culturally rich and relatable look at personal growth within a domestic setting. It shows that you don't necessarily have to fly to Europe to find yourself.
Production and casting updates
Director Vikas Bahl, who is also writing the sequel, is reportedly trying out a fresh creative approach this time. Reports suggest the movie will feature a totally new supporting cast, meaning no actors from the original film are expected to return. Bahl has been busy scouting talent from the theater circuit to keep things feeling authentic and fresh. He wants these new characters to feel grounded and real to the audience. The first leg of the shoot is happening at a studio in Mumbai. Construction is already in full swing for the elaborate sets that will replicate a North Indian city and the main character’s home. Once the Mumbai schedule wraps up, the whole unit is expected to go on a multi-city tour to capture Rani’s journey across the nation. The makers have planned a tight, start-to-finish shooting schedule that should last about three months. This timeline was carefully worked out to fit into the lead actress's packed calendar. Once she finishes work on Queen 2, Ranaut is expected to jump right into her next big franchise project, Tanu Weds Manu 3, with director Aanand L. Rai.
