When asked about what kind of storytelling excites her the most today, Sonali’s answer reflected a mixture of emotion and honesty that defines her approach to work and life. “I do look for something which is a little more authentic, and by that I don’t mean it has to be only gritty and real. Sometimes, there can be a very authentic emotion in a very unreal situation. I want that bit of authenticity in the character, in the story that’s being told or that I’m reading,” Sonali shared with Zoom. She added, “There are too many stories around us - every time you scroll through social media, there are little stories. What attracts me is when I can believe it or identify with it. When there is authenticity, it touches something in every person. Human emotions are human emotions — as long as they are authentic, they don’t really change that much.”
Sonali revealed that she currently enjoys acting and hosting the most. At home, she finds joy in simple things - “cleaning and throwing junk” - and admits that food is her ultimate comfort. While she doesn’t see a biopic being made on her life (“Very boring,” she laughs), she remains open to new roles, saying, “I’m sure there are fantastic writers who’ll come to me with a fabulous story. I’ll be ready and waiting to do it.”When asked about her best film, Sonali confidently said, “It’s yet to come.” Summing up her journey in three words, she smiled and said, “Not done yet.”Did you like our brief chat with Sonali?
