Divyenndu
in an angry young man avatar – a sureshot winner! The audience has seen him in different roles and admired him for his diversity. While all eyes are on Mirzapur: The Film, he delivered a surprise hit, Glory, on Netflix. Directed by Karan Anshuman, the sports thriller features him in the role of Dev, the son of a respected boxing coach, Raghubir. Unlike his father and brother Ravi (Pulkit Samrat), his aspirations lie outside the boxing ring. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Divyenndu believed Dev’s toxic relationship with his father (Suvinder Vicky) is justified.
Divyenndu says toxicity in parent-child relationship shown in Glory is justified
Divyenndu told us (Zoom), “Dev’s angst in Glory is justified. He is a product of patriarchy. His father, just to fulfil his dream, burdened him so much that today, he thinks of himself as a loser. His rage and anger stem from the fact that he never wanted to be a boxer under such pressure. Dev is an example of those children whose parents burden them with expectations. Dev’s rage and the toxicity in his relationship with Raghubir are justified.”
Divyenndu says it's time to talk about patriarchy
He further added, “It is time we talk about patriarchy at length and how men are in society, and how they are not conditioned to show their emotions, and many hug someone and cry. Parents can burden their child’s brain so much with their unfulfilled dreams. They put so much pressure on that poor soul.”
Reaction to Glory's success
Divyenndu also reacted to the success of
Glory. He shared in the interview that for the first time, he is opening every DM on Instagram and other social media platforms to read what people have written for him and his performance in the recently released series. Acknowledging the love and support received from the audience and media, the actor called it an overwhelming feeling.
