Mehta’s latest series, Space Gen - Chandrayaan, premiered on January 23 on JioHotstar, and it depicts scientists at India’s space program tackling an ambitious lunar mission. The actor has been a part of several notable TV, reality, and OTT series in his career, but Mehta can still recall a life lesson he learned early on. In an interview with us, he revisited the time when he turned down a dance reality show and ended up being let go from his hosting gig instead. Mehta shared that he learned something important about the cost of business after that.

Speaking with Zoom, the Do You Wanna Partner actor spoke about a life lesson that has stayed with him. He recalled an incident from a decade ago, right after the show Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara when he was still very new.

He revealed, “I feel courage is found in retrospect and you call it courage now. I didn't know any other way. I was hosting the biggest reality show there was. I had a great time and learned a lot on the biggest stage.”Mehta was hosting India’s Got Talent Season 6 with judges Karan Johar, Malaika Arora, and Kirron Kher. The channel wanted him to also be a part of another dance reality show. But the actor turned them down as he didn’t want to do acting and a reality show at the same time. He told them candidly that his heart wasn’t in it. Experience of being fired from hosting gig He added, “Of course, that wasn't met well, and I got a termination letter with two episodes to go, which was very humiliating at that point. I thought I was doing a decent job. My decision of doing your show can't be based on the fact that I'm not doing your next job. Now, when I look back, [I think] this is the cost of business. I shouldn't have been that emotional.”Mehta used the experience to fuel himself for another good opportunity. After reading Ronnie Screwvala's book Dare to Dream, the actor thought he would create his own opportunities and went on to produce and star in the web series, I Don't Watch TV. He went on to star in other projects such as Ishqbaaaz, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2 and Never Kiss Your Best Friend.
