Drishyam
3, starring Mohanlal in the lead role, is all set to hit the theatres on May 21, 2026. The buzz around the Malayalam thriller is very high, as the filmmaker Jeethu Joseph managed to surprise the audience with the climax of the first two installments of Drishyam. Ahead of the third installment’s release, Jeethu Joseph admitted that he made a big mistake in Drishyam Part 1. He is guilty of doing the same and explained the real story behind the thriller, which left everyone perplexed by its engaging storyline.
Jeethu Joseph Narrates Real Story Of Drishyam
In an interview with Aashirwad Cinemas during the promotions of Drishyam 3, Jeethu Joseph revealed that the idea of the film came from a real-life conflict between two families, whom he knows personally. The issues involved a boy and a girl that eventually turned into a police case. Jeethu revealed that there was a disagreement between two families, and someone told him at that time, “Both were right and wrong in some ways.” The filmmaker explained that the comment stayed in his mind for years. Eventually, he began writing a story of Drishyam to gauge the viewers’ reaction to the morally complex situation. The Drishyam 3 maker said that the incident happened in 2000, before he started his career in showbiz. After completing the film,
Jeethu Joseph realised that his assumption didn’t play out the way he had expected. Instead of divided rules, the audiences started supporting Georgekutty and his family, despite their manipulation.
Jeethu Joseph has full sympathy for Geetha Prabhakar, who does everything to find the ultimate truth about her son’s whereabouts. The filmmaker wanted the audience to think about both the perspectives. However, Georgekutty turned out to be a messiah despite manipulating the cops to hide the truth in the name of protecting his family. Hence, Jeethu Joseph feels guilty of making such a big mistake in his film, Drishyam.
