Singh has landed in controversy after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees reportedly issued a non-cooperation directive against the actor amid the ongoing Don 3 dispute. The action comes after complaints linked to Singh’s reported abrupt exit from the film, directed by Farhan Akhtar and produced by Excel Entertainment. According to reports, the actor pulled out of the project just before shooting began, leading to fears of losses and delays in production. FWICE officials have called the matter serious, stating that such last-minute exits negatively affect the film industry and ongoing productions.

Don 3 backed by Excel Entertainment. The controversy gained attention after reports claimed that Singh walked out of the project just days before filming was expected to begin. The film is being directed by Farhan Akhtar and produced by Excel Entertainment, led by Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. According to reports, the production house had already invested heavily in pre-production work and planning before the actor’s reported decision to leave the film.FWICE statement said, “Considering the conduct displayed towards the Federation and the stakeholders associated with the project, the office bearers of FWICE have resolved to issue a Non-Cooperation Directive (NCD) against Mr. Ranveer Singh.” It further stated that FWICE is ready to meet with Mr. Ranveer Singh to hear his views and to take the matter forward with a view to reaching an amicable and final resolution in the interest of both parties.
FWICE reacts strongly to last-minute exits from films
Speaking earlier about the controversy, Ashoke Pandit said the federation views such situations very seriously, especially when actors reportedly leave projects shortly before filming begins. He stressed that the sudden exit could cause major disruption for producers, technicians and others working behind the scenes. Pandit also said that the Federation of Western India Cine Employees will first discuss the matter internally before coming to a final decision. According to him, any action taken by the federation would be aimed at protecting the interests of the film industry and its workers.
Producers Guild reportedly attempted mediation
The dispute surrounding Don 3 had reportedly also reached the Producers Guild of India, where efforts were made to resolve the issue through discussions. Reports suggest that Excel Entertainment had invested a significant amount in planning and pre-production before the news of Ranveer Singh's exit from the film broke. However, talks regarding a possible settlement were reportedly unresolved.
