Paresh Pahuja on surge in violent cinema
Talking to
Zoom, Paresh shared his opinion on the shift in spy thrillers, from
Tiger Zinda Hai to
Dhurandhar 2. He said, “A lot of it is also because our exposure to the world and global cinema has dramatically changed. We can easily consume Game of Thrones and shows with violence. It is not new to us anymore. We're sensitised to that thing because of exposure to global cinema and shows, which is what's happening in our films. People seem to be okay with it and also enjoy.”
Why is blood artsy in cinema?
He added, “As long as the messaging that good prevails over bad, maara maari is fine. Humara khud ka Mahabharat bhi dekh lo. Lad hi rahe hai voh bhi. Ladko ko aap chod do, ladne lag jayenge. That’s why we need women. We need that feminine energy, varna marte hi rahenge sabko. Humko pyaar karna bhi sikha do yaar (laughs). It is that the exposure is a little different now. It is like showing a little more blood because Quentin Tarantino made showing blood very artsy.”Paresh concluded by saying, “Har era mein, men are fighting a war. Hum jinke putle lagate hai, unn sabne jungein ladi hai. This is one guy in the U.S, one guy in Israel. Ab kya kare? Baithe baithe kya kare karna hai kuch kaam, toh ladayi shuru karte hai. That's why we need art. That's why we need music. That's why we need that nurturing energy.”
