Vijay’s Day 1 As Tamil Nadu CM: Thalapathy Meets DMK’s MK Stalin, Udhayanidhi Stalin; Fans Praise Jana Nayagan Star

Actor-turned-politician C Joseph Vijay aka Thalapathy Vijay, has taken over the charge of Tamil Nadu state as the Chief Minister. His first day as CM was pretty much exciting as the Tamil Nadu supremo met the former CM of TN and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, aka DMK, leader MK Stalin and his son and former Deputy CM, Udhayanidhi Stalin. For the unversed, Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), defeated the DMK and AIADMK’s alliance in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections. During their rallies, the leaders took a lot of digs at each other. Today (May 11), Vijay surprised everyone and sought the blessings of veteran political leader MK Stalin.

Thalapathy Vijay’s first day as CM

Thalapathy Vijay took an oath as Tamil Nadu's CM at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai in the presence of the governor, political leaders, and celebrities. On Monday, May 11, the actor visited the Tamil Nadu assembly to take a charge. The first day for Tamil Nadu CM Vijay turned out to be chaotic as some netizens and politicians took objection to the Tamil Nadu state song, Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu, playing third after the national song and national anthem at the swearing-in ceremony of the Jana Nayagan actor. Despite the backlash, Vijay and his political party maintained their calm and focused on their work. On day 1, Vijay met former CM and Deputy CM, MK Stalin and Udhayanidhi Stalin. Apart from them, the former actor also met NTK Chief Coordinator Senthamizhan Seeman at his residence in Chennai.

The internet is filled with a lot of mixed to positive reactions over Thalapathy Vijay’s meeting with his opposition leaders. One user stated that despite being the opposition leader to them, the Jana Nayagan star maintained respect and met them cordially.

Some netizens also loved Vijay and MK Stalin’s meeting, as the latter greeted the new CM of the state with a lot of respect. He welcomed him by traditionally gifting him a yellow shawl, which is a symbol of respect.

It looks like Thalapathy Vijay has already started winning the hearts of the masses with his work. The people of Tamil Nadu have high hopes, as they feel that Vijay would bring change in the system and state.
