Ayushmann Khurrana on Pati Patni Aur Woh Do
In a statement, Ayushmann said that
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do taps into a storytelling tradition that the audience has cherished for decades. For him, it’s a space where misunderstandings spiral into hilarity, where every character adds a layer to the narrative, and where the humour feels organic and timeless. Ayushmann, who plays the role of Prajapati Pandey, shared that the idea of
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is to present situational comedy in its purest, most classic form. The idea traces its roots back to the legacy of Sanjeev Kumar. “I have been a big fan of his work,” the actor added. Similar to how humour from films of that era emerged from misunderstandings, timing, and character dynamics, the upcoming rom-com attempts to recreate that magic. “I’ve always admired that style of storytelling, seen in timeless films like Padosan, Chupke Chupke, Angoor and Gol Maal. They are a laugh riot and I’m hoping Pati Patni Aur Woh Do will also be the same for people,” he shared.
Hinting at what Mudassar Aziz, the director, has created with
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do,
Ayushmann revealed the film carries forward the spirit of clever writing in cinema that celebrates comedy of errors beautifully. “This is an out and out family entertainer meant to be enjoyed together, where the comedy comes from a series of errors and misunderstandings. It’s a throwback to a time when storytelling was simple, clean, and genuinely funny and that’s exactly what we’ve tried to recreate here,” he mentioned. Khurrana admitted being a fan of such classic cinema, which was ‘truly refreshing’. The actor also said he was waiting for the right opportunity to do a film that celebrates the simplicity of emotions.
