Atlee To NOT Direct Don 3 Amid Reports Of Ranveer Singh's Exit? Here's What We Know

A report published in a leading portal suggested that Ranveer walked out of Farhan Akhtar’s next directorial venture after the huge success of Dhurandhar. Another report claimed that Shah Rukh Khan is now going to reprise the role, but on one condition. He wants Atlee, who directed him in Jawan, to helm the project. Amid all the buzz, a source close to the production has confirmed that the filmmaker is not a part of the movie.

The source informed Hindustan Times, "The rumors around Atlee being brought on Don 3 are completely untrue. Atlee has never been approached for the film and has nothing to do with the franchise."

There was a long debate over Singh's exit as well. An insider close to the development revealed that Ranveer Singh didn’t walk out of Don 3 due to date issues but due to creative differences with the makers. A source close to the development rubbished the reports about Ranveer quitting Don 3 due to date issues and said, "Ranveer Singh hasn’t walked out of Don 3 like the rumour mills claim. It’s actually an entirely different story. His exit was due to creative differences with the makers. To start with, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar offered him Don 3 after he had delivered three colossal flops. They stood by him even after Sanjay Leela Bhansali shelved Baiju Bawra because he was considered not saleable at the time."

Further, they added, "Don 3 is the hottest franchise, and Ranveer was stepping into the legendary shoes of not just Shah Rukh Khan but also Amitabh Bachchan. It is a dream role for any actor. Farhan was the only filmmaker who put his trust in Ranveer when others had backed out. This was also at a time when Dhurandhar hadn’t even been released." Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan played the character of Don in the previous versions. An official announcement for the cast of Don 3 is still awaited.
