Fire And Ash, the latest film from the treasure of James Cameron, has released globally today (December 19). The plot is set days after the events of Avatar: Way Of Water. Jake Sully and Neytiri spring back into action despite the Metkayina’s Tsahik’s disapproval. They have no option nor time to mourn Neteyam’s death. Avatar: Fire And Ash takes the franchise to its fourth part. In this film, character dynamics change. Who wins in the battle between Jake Sully and Colonel Quaritch? Will Varang cause destruction? Avatar: Fire And Ash answers. Here’s decoding the film’s climax. (Spoilers Ahead)
Emotional baggage
Lo’ak and Neteyam are high up in the sky, enjoying their time together. Soon, the former’s bubble of illusion breaks, just to realise that his ‘bro’ isn’t in the mortal world anymore. He soaks himself in the ocean of grief and holds himself responsible for Neteyam’s death. Being the son of ‘Toruk Makto’, he shows signs of being a leader and wants to overcompensate for the guilt of losing his brother due to his carefree attitude. Lo’ak is still stubborn enough to hold onto his terms and conditions. Jake despises this.
Spider to leave Na'vi family
Neytiri holds the emotional weight of Neteyam’s death. For her, Spider, the pink-skinned boy, is an unwanted addition to the family. While Jake wants to protect him from the ‘Sky People’ and Colonel Quaritch,
Neytiri expresses her interest in sending him back to his world. When they announce the decision to send him back, Lo’ak, Kiri and Tuk stand against it. That’s when the Na’vi family plans to accompany Spider to his world.
Ash People cause damage
After the Windtraders episode, Jake, Neytiri, Spider, Lo’ak, Kiri and Tuk are separated. Lo’ak, Spider, Kiri and Tuk are together as they fight the ‘Ash People’. Spider’s mask begins losing its battery, and spare ones are on the Windtraders' ship. Going there would mean risk to their lives. Unfortunately, Spider collapses. Kiri uses her power to summon Mother Nature to rescue him. Showing strength and compassion in adverse situations, she turns Spider into one of them, and he can breathe the same air as others. Kiri’s calls to Eywa go unnoticed.
Jake, Spider to die?
Colonel Quaritch is still trying to win Spider’s love. While he is under Jake’s protection, his father uses his power to bring him back. In the battle against Jake, Quaritch joins hands with Varang, the Tsahik of the Mangkwan clan, also known as the Ash People. Threat comes walking into the Metkayina clan’s land. Jake and Neytiri, along with the Metkayina people device, devise a plan to ambush the RDA’s destructive goals. Lo’ak steps forward with the Tulkuns to attack the RDA ships that could destroy the marine life. Amid the ongoing battle with Quaritch and Varang, who now share a seductive chemistry, Jake and Neytiri surrender themselves when they arrive with full force in the Metkayina land. When Jake’s arrest and death sentence are showcased on television, a kind-hearted scientist, who is against killing the Tulkuns, creates a situation to rescue him. Spider also plays an important role in saving Jake’s life.
Neytiri, injured and wounded, makes Varang her target. Amid the battle, the Tsahik of Metkayina gives birth to a child. However, she hands over the baby girl’s responsibility to Neytiri as she dies during childbirth. The child’s name is Pril. With Kiri and Tuk by her side, Neytiri fights Varang to protect Pril.
How Avatar Fire And Ash ends?
Amidst the chaos and bloodbath, Jake thinks of killing Spider, considering him to be the root cause of the battle. His hands tremble when he holds the knife to Spider’s neck. Neytiri’s maternal instincts don’t allow Jake to kill Spider. After an emotional moment, they are back on their toes as Quaritch catches hold of them. Accidentally, Spider slips down a cliff. He is rescued by Quaritch and Jake. Following an awkward situation, Quaritch jumps off the cliff. His fate is still unknown. Following the fights, killings and loss, Kiri once again establishes a connection with Eywa. This time, she has Spider joining her. As she struggles to see Mother Nature, Tuk also joins her. Finally, they see the face of the Goddess. In the end, Spider becomes a part of Eywa as he sees the land’s ancestors.
