directed by Selvamani Selvaraj released in cinemas on 14 November. A period drama, Kaantha stars Dulquer Salmaan, Rana Daggubati, Samuthirakani in lead roles. Since its release, the film has been receiving praise from fans for its portrayal of the bygone era and the solid performances of the actors.
Gayathri Shankar Talks About Working In Kaantha:
The interesting part of the film is the depiction of its female leads: Bhagyashri Borse and Gayathrie Shankar. While Bhagyashri Borse plays Kumari, an aspiring actress, Gayathrie Shankar plays the role of Devi, daughter of a media baron. The scenes featuring the two ignite sparks, as Kumari becomes TK Madhavevan (Dulquer Salmaan)'s love interest, while he remains married to Devi . In an exclusive chat with Zoom, Gayathrie Shankar opens up about working in Kaantha and her co-star Dulquer Salmaan.
Gayathrie Shankar stated that despite her introvert nature she didn't feel out of place on the sets of the film. She thanked the film's producer and co-actor Rana Daggubati for making her feel comfortable on the sets. "I think the best part about working on Kaantha was how collaborative the process was! How warm the atmosphere of the set was. As an introvert, I struggle to bond with new people. Rana instantly made me feel at home." said the actress. Quiz her about working with the film's lead actor Dulquer Salmaan she said "DQ I think is one of the most charming guys I have worked with."
In her 13-year long career, Gayathrie Shankar, has been a crucial part of films such as Kamal Haasan-Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vikram and Vijay Sethupathi's Super Deluxe, where she didn't play conventional roles. Ask her if this was a conscious decision, she said "yes, I choose roles that I can connect with personally and feel like there are opportunities to explore in the character, also I look at how excited I am about the character and the story.
