The first song from Border 2, titled Ghar Kab Aaoge, evoked nostalgia. The reprised version of Border’s iconic Sandese Aate Hai, it is picturised on Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty.
The Sonu Nigam rendition has been trending across social media. However, a section of netizens is unimpressed by Varun’s performance in the song. As trolling against the actor crossed the limit of decency and healthy criticism, Border 2’s co-producer, Nidhi Dutta, reacted to the hate-filled comments on social media. Varun plays the role of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, PVC, in the upcoming war film directed by Anurag Singh.

Reacting to online criticism, Nidhi tweeted, “Congratulations to all the ANTI NATIONALS THAT CAN PAY TO BRING DOWN AN ACTOR PLAYING A PVC OF THIS COUNTRY. This is YOUR FILM INDIA! Hope the audiences find and shame these people.” Amid backlash for his performance in Ghar Kab Aaoge, Varun hosted an AMA session on Instagram and reacted to comments on his acting. When a netizen asked him to stop doing films like

Border 2 might change the perception.
Varun Dhawan's emotional speech at Ghar Kab Aaoge song launch
At the song launch of
Ghar Kab Aaoge, Varun gave an emotionally charged speech. He said, “Jaise Sunny sir ne kaha, bachpan mein unhone Haqeeqat dekhi thi, tab se unke dil mein ek chah thi ki woh Armed Forces par ek film karein. Bachpan mein maine Border picture dekhi thi, aur mere dil mein bhi ek khwahish thi ki main kabhi na kabhi Armed Forces ka hissa ban kar koi kirdaar nibhaun. Only because of Sunny, sir. Sach mein, yeh jazba, yeh himmat poore desh mein aayi thi us waqt jab humne yeh picture dekhi thi—ki hamara desh kitna taqatwar hai. Maine kabhi sapne mein bhi nahi socha tha ki main kabhi is gaane ka hissa banunga. Toh maine kabhi socha nahi tha ki Border 2 banegi, yaa yeh gaana banega.”He added, “Waise toh hamara desh bahut aman, shanti aur pyaar wala desh hai. But kabhi-kabhi Border jaisi films ka aana bahut zaroori hota hai. Kyunki isse hamare desh ke saare youth, saari yuva peedhi ko yeh bataya jaata hai ki hamare desh mein woh jurrat hai, woh jazba hai. Isliye Border 2 jaisi film ka banna bahut zaroori hai. Agar hum 1971 mein ek doosre desh ko freedom dila sakte hain. Toh usi waqt hum apni khud ki freedom ke liye ladh bhi sakte hain. Maine kabhi yeh socha nahi tha. Bas aap please jaakar film dekhiye—23 January ko. Aur film mein mera ek dialogue hai: ‘Is baar hum border mein ghusenge nahi, hum border hi badal denge.'”Border 2, co-starring Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh and Medha Rana, releases in theatres on January 23.
