Imagine a mind-reading hat that can understand what you are thinking and communicate it to others! This seems like a Harry Potter-style fictional hat coming true. While the Elon Musk-led Neuralink has chips that can read your mind, they need brain implants. We live in a world that is driven by AI. Sounding the similar future, where a hat could communicate on your behalf and read your mind, an AI startup appears to have already found its way to the idea. An American startup, Sabi, is working on a beanie that can turn your thoughts into actual text that can be read on a screen. Backed by the notable investor Vinod Khosla, Sabi was co-founded by Rahul Chhabra in Rajasthan. Chhabra told Wired that they are also planning to bring a basketball cap-version
tool. How Will A Beanie Read Your Mind?As per Sabi, the technology to bring a brain-reading hat may sound similar to Neuralink. It will use brain-computer interface (BCI) chips and act as a medium to connect your brain to the computer. It is interesting to note that rather than implanting the technology inside anyone’s brain, the company will place it inside a cap or a beanie. Khosla told Wired, “If you're going to have a billion people use BCI for access to their computers every day, it can't be invasive.”The startup said that it uses electroencephalography (EEG) to record the electrical activity of a brain through metal disks placed on the head directly. However, there can be an issue. The signals might be dampened as the sensors require listening through layers of skin and bones. To solve this issue, Sabi suggested that it use a higher number of sensors inside the hat, which could range around 100,000.
