Peddi
makers have been receiving backlash over the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor’s character in the Ram Charan film since its release. While the Telugu version has crossed the Rs 150 crore mark at the box office, the Hindi version is still struggling to mint numbers amid backlash. Recently, the Peddi team conducted a ‘thank you meet’ in Hyderabad, where the actors and makers thanked fans for showering love on Peddi. Jagapathi Babu, who played a key role in the sports drama, indirectly addressed the criticism over Janhvi’s character and thanked people for giving ‘bad reviews’ to the film.
Jagapathi Babu Takes Dig At Peddi Haters
At the post-release event,
Jagapathi Babu looked in fun mode as he addressed the backlash Peddi has received online over how Janhvi Kapoor’s role was objectified in the film. He spoke in Telugu on the stage. The veteran actor said that Peddi played, struggled and won. He further mentioned that the Peddi team still had to play and fight before winning. Jagapathi said, “Maybe this is the only game where you had to win twice.” According to Jagapathi Babu, the person who bought a Rs 300 ticket will decide its fate, as the film is on a razor's edge. He feels that it was not easy for the director to get a producer for a story like this. He called Ram Charan ‘Superman’ and ‘He-Man’.
While concluding the statement, Jagapathi Babu said, “To everybody, once again, thanks. And to those who wrote bad reviews, I thank you even more. Because you have unknowingly helped us a lot.” It looks like Jagapathi Babu and other stars of Peddi are very happy with the success of the film. They are eyeing crossing the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office.
