for unlicensed IVs, given she lacks accomplice status. Recently, Park found herself embroiled in trouble after a civil complaint claimed she received unauthorised treatments even though her representatives insisted she only got vitamin injections from a licensed doctor, denying all wrongdoing. Why Park Na-Rae might not be punished in 'injection aunt' scandal?
On December 18, Ki Seung-Guk, president of the Korean Society of Preventive Medicine Specialists spoke on Park Na-Rae's 'injection aunt' case. In an interview with YTN Radio's
Wise Radio Life, he said, "Patients are not, in principle, subject to punishment. I've heard that there are quite a few people like 'Injection Aunt.' Many people use these (illegal drug injections), but I have never heard of anyone being punished for it.""The key legal issue is whether a patient actively assists or requests unlicensed medical practices, which could make them an accomplice or instigator. However, in my opinion, these Injection Aunts or unauthorized IV providers have already committed illegal medical acts regardless of Park Na-rae, so it is difficult to see Park Na-rae as aiding or instigating them," he added.
Park Na-Rae is not accomplice
Ki was skeptical about Park calling the unauthorised person to receive IV fluids. "From a medical perspective, if a healthy person who is not deficient receives an IV, there is little effect. If someone specializes solely in house calls or home visits for this, I question whether they are truly legitimate medical professionals," he said.
