much-awaited Mohanlal film, Drishyam 3, is finally here! Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the crime thriller was released on the occasion of its lead actor's birthday. Co-starring Meena, Ansiba Hasan and Esther Anil, the film is the third installment in Jeethu's Drishyam franchise. It marks the return of Mohanlal as a cable TV operator-turned-theatre owner, Georgekutty. Backed by Aashirvad Cinemas, the movie performed well during advance bookings. Eight years after the success of Drishyam, the makers returned with its second installment. Featuring the Malayalam superstar in the lead role, Drishyam 2 was released on February 19, 2021. However, the movie had to skip its theatrical release due to COVID. Instead, it had a grand premiere on Amazon Prime Video. Five years later, the second installment was re-released in theatres on April 10, 2026.

Jeethu Joseph on his mistake in Drishyam

Meanwhile, in an interview released by Aashirvad Cinemas, Jeethu Joseph revealed the mistake he made in Drishyam. "After watching the movie, I realised I had made a mistake because that balancing didn’t happen." The filmmaker recalled that everyone stood firmly with Georgekutty and his family. He further wondered if one could actually blame Geetha Prabhakar, whose son has gone missing.Jeethu added that from Geetha's perspective, Georgekutty is manipulating everything. "Her son never confessed his wrongdoing to her, so she still isn’t ready to believe what actually happened," he stated. The director further continued saying that Geetha, as a mother, doesn't know the truth. In the same conversation, the director shared that the idea of Drishyam came from a disagreement between two families.
