Indian
celebrities, particularly actresses, have raised strong objections to the paparazzi filming them when their backs face the cameras. ‘Guess-who’ videos that feature female stars have drawn extreme backlash in the past couple of months. At the recently held Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’s trailer launch within Mumbai’s Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Sara Ali Khan got uncomfortable when a stand-up comedian passed a distasteful comment on actors and the videos that capture them from inappropriate angles. She was sitting with Rakul Preet Singh, Ayushmann Khurrana and Wamiqa Gabbi, who were also shocked at the statement.
Why did Sara Ali Khan get awkward at Pati Patni Aur Woh Do's trailer launch?
At
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’s trailer launch on Saturday, May 2, an emcee raised eyebrows by claiming that he might not recognise celebrities from their faces, but he will never go wrong in identifying them from their backs. He further made the actresses uncomfortable, saying, “Maine itna time bitaya hai uss cheez mein. (I’ve spent a lot of time on that)” The camera captured
Sara’s expressions. She looked at Ayushmann and exclaimed, “Yeh kya bol raha hai? (What is he saying?)”
Actors take a stand against inappropriate pap videos
Taking a stand against the paparazzi filming them from inappropriate angles, including the back shot, Bollywood actresses, including Mrunal Thakur, Janhvi Kapoor and Palak Tiwari, drew boundaries and received appreciation from their peers. Recently, Karisma Kapoor was seen on the set of her upcoming reality show. After spotting the paparazzi, the
Murder Mubarak actor sternly asked the cameramen not to film her while she walked towards the shoot location.
