Antoine Fuqua's Michael is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Starring Jaafar Jackson as Michael Jackson, the biopic is all set to release in theatres on April 24. Ahead of the movie's big screen arrival, producer Graham King has spoken about Jaafar's performance in the film. He is the nephew of Michael and the son of Jermaine Jackson. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, King praised Jackson's portrayal of the King of Pop. The producer mentioned that Jaafar is the centre and the plug of his project.
Graham King on Jaafar Jackson's performance in Michael
Speaking exclusively to us, Graham admitted that he's never seen any actor so far to embody a character. "
Jaafar may have Michael in his DNA, but he took that to a higher, more moving place than any of us ever dreamed of. He is the center, he’s the plug. You plug him in, the movie comes alive," said the
Michael producer.
Further, spilled beans about the biopic, the producer stated that it is an emotional ride through all that went into Michael's emergence as the King of Pop. He admitted that the movie is as upbeat as Jackson was. "A story we felt would have people dancing and laughing in the aisles. I wanted the world to see where it all began—from his roots in The Jackson 5 to the launch of his solo career—and to reveal the personal battles for creative and personal freedom that fueled his fire. Through it all, his passion and relentless drive gave the world some of the greatest music ever made," Graham King added.
