Chris
Hemsworth had to literally beg his daughter India Rose to reprise her character Love in Avengers: Doomsday. The actor who's bringing back his Thor to MCU's next mega offering, revealed how he "bribed" his teenage daughter to return to the Marvel set. India debuted as Rose in Thor: Love And Thunder (2022). Hemsworth shared that it took him a bit of "negotiation" to get her to join the cast of Doomsday. However, the entire chatter does confirm Love's comeback, adding that extra layer of emotional arc to Thor's storyline. We even saw a glimpse of Love in the teaser of Thor we saw recently.
Love in Marvel Cinematic Universe
Love is Gorr the God Butcher's resurrected daughter, who adopts the name at the end of
Thor: Love and Thunder, will return for the next big Marvel Studios event movie. Opening up about the behind-the-scenes negotiations Hemsworth had to undertake to convince India Rose to return for
Avengers: Doomsday, he revealed that a mix of teenage attitude, resistance to filming, and a carefully offered bribe that possibly included a new motorbike were key to getting her back on the set.
How did Chris Hemsworth convince daughter India Rose?
During an appearance on The View (via EW), Chris Hemsworth said, "She’s now 13, so she’s a teenager, so a bit different to when we shot the other one. And she walks on set and she’s like, ‘Ugh, how long is this gonna take?’ I was like, ‘We haven’t even started!’"Hemsworth revealed that on the first day of filming their scenes together, India remarked, "Are we done?" He then informed her that they had "another two or three days" of shooting to complete. But, she wasn't very excited. "She’s like, ‘Aww, God.’ Just this angsty, sort of teenage attitude! And in the end, I had to bribe her to come onto set. She’s like, ‘I’m not coming! I’m not even getting paid! What am I even doing here?’ And I go, ‘You are getting paid.’ She goes, ‘Really? You didn’t tell me that.’"
India not ready to give up the money she earned
India was not ready to let go of the salary she received for reprising her Love. So when Hemsworth told her that the money she earned would be saved until she turned 18, India reacted, "Nah! Nah, I want some of it now,." The actor added, "And [Doomsday co-director] Joe Russo and the directors are there and they’re like, ‘…We gotta get her on set.’"Hemsworth clarified that this wasn't any "tantrums" by his daughter, but rather believes India has become a "difficult actor already."Though not much is known about the screen time of Love, reports claim she will be the one who will alert Thor of the incoming battle with Doctor Doom. One reason could be due to her connection to the cosmic being Eternity, who is being threatened by the current situation.
