RJ Balaji and the team of Karuppu set off across Tamil Nadu to witness for themselves the massive response to their Tamil film starring Suriya. Producers Dream Warrior Pictures and director RJ Balaji both shared glimpses of the success tour where he personally visited cinemas and other important locations in the state. A key stop on the tour was Madurai, aka the city that never sleeps. RJ Balaji said he was truly humbled and grateful by the overwhelming response to his film. Co-starring Trisha Krishnan, Karuppu finally released in theatres on May 15.

Over the past three days, filmmaker
RJ Balaji has been all over Tamil Nadu to Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Dindigul, Trichy and finally . Earlier this week, he was also in Mumbai. In his Instagram post, RJ Balaji noted that he had traveled 1,200 kms, gone to 11 districts, 14 centers and 15 shows of Karuppu. Thanking God, the audiences and the "anbaana" fans, RJ Balaji added, "Unbelievable love and unforgettable core memory unlocked..!!! Am truly humbled and grateful."
In a video shared by Dream Warrior Pictures, the director met with fans of the film in the divine city of Madurai, where the team also stopped at the temple for prayers. One key moment, which is also captured in RJ Balaji's post, is an adorable photo of the director holding a baby dressed like Suriya's character in Karuppu. The little one also had a fake moustache.

The director also has a big supporting role in
Karuppu. He plays a corrupt lawyer named Bay Kannan who willfully cheats a man (Indrans) and his family. Soon, Suriya enters the movie as Karuppan, a revered guardian deity, who comes to earth to gain justice and teach a few humans some necessary lessons in right and wrong. The Tamil film also features Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Supreeth Reddy and Yogi Babu as part of the ensemble cast. Trisha plays Preethi in the feature; her voice in the film is dubbed by Chinmayi Sripada.RJ Balaji has co-written the script with Ashwin Ravichandran, Rahul Raj, TS Gopi Krishnan and Karan Aravind Kumar. The music of Karuppu is composed by Sai Abhyankkar, the cinematography is handled by GK Vishnu and the editing is helmed by R Kalaivanan. Since the release of
Karuppu, the Tamil film has gone on to become Suriya's
highest-grossing film of all time. On its tenth day,
Karrupu has grossed Rs 234.78 crore total globally and is inching towards the Rs 150 crore mark in India alone.
