Kartik
Aaryan fans will have to wait a little longer to witness him as an ichchadhari naag - a shape shifting serpent - in his first ever fantasy fiction film Naagzilla. Previously, the film backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films, was set to arrive in cinemas on August 14, 2026, during the Independence Day weekend. However, a recent update suggests otherwise. The makers have postponed its original release date to February 12, 2027, aiming for the Valentine’s Day weekend instead.
Kartik Aaryan's Naagzilla postponed to February 2027
Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, the film is said to rely heavily on VFX, with Kartik playing a shape-shifting serpent. The project also brings together Kartik with Karan Johar and producer Mahaveer Jain, making it a notable collaboration that has already drawn attention for its scale and unusual premise. With the new release window, the film is expected to lean into its mix of fantasy, comedy, and romance to attract audiences during the Valentine’s period. The delay also means Naagzilla will avoid a box office clash with
Lahore 1947, starring Sunny Deol. That film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and backed by Aamir Khan Productions, is scheduled to release on August 13. Naagzilla also features Preity Mukhundhan as the female lead.
Kartik Aaryan had earlier announced the film Naagzilla back in April last year. He also shared a striking motion poster in which he was seen shirtless gazing over the cityscape from within a smoke filled air. The makers had also shared a poster of the film, which shows a silhouette of Kartik in the backdrop of a snake's head, adding mystery and intrigue about the plot of the movie.Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan has largely stayed out of the spotlight after his name surfaced in a
controversy linked to alleged chats with a minor on Snapchat.Several claims circulated online suggesting the actor had messaged a minor on the app, but none of these have been verified. The chatter appears to have originated from anonymous social media posts and quickly gained traction through online speculation.
Kartik Aaryan's work front
On the professional front, Kartik was last seen in
Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, which failed to make an impact at the box office despite releasing during the Christmas period. The romantic comedy opened on an average note and couldn’t maintain momentum, eventually being labelled a flop, especially when compared to the strong performance of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.How excited are you for Naagzilla?
