Actor Sivaji, who will soon be seen in Dhandoraa, has found himself in the middle of a controversy after his recent remarks on women's attire have gone viral on social media. The actor has urged female
actors to choose traditional and modest attire over 'revealing clothes.' Without naming anyone in particular, he asked women in cinema to dress modestly.
Dhandoraa Actor Sivaji Urges Heroines To Dress Modestly, Sparks Controversy
Speaking at the event, Sivaji shared his opinion on the way heroines dress. The Court actor said that traditional clothing like sarees enhances a woman’s beauty and honour. While he mentioned that wearing short dresses is not wrong, he added that such choices are often judged by the society. “I request all heroines not to wear revealing outfits. Please wear sarees or dresses that cover the body fully. Beauty lies in complete attire or a saree, not in displaying physical assets,” he said. Elaborating his comments, Sivaji stated that while some people may seem like they are okay with revealing outfits, they may feel uncomfortable inside their mind. “People may not openly say anything because they feel it is your freedom, but inside they may not like it,” he added. The actor compared women to nature. “A woman is like nature. When nature is beautiful, we respect it. A woman is like my mother, whom I hold close to my heart,” he said. He cited legendary actresses Savitri and Soundarya as examples, stating that they looked graceful while wearing sarees. He went on to praise
Rashmika Mandanna for her choice of dressing.
Sivaji acknowledged that his remarks might invite criticism and even trolling, especially from women. “Freedom is precious — don’t lose it. People will respect you based on your conduct. Glamour should have limits; it should not cross a certain line,” he said.
Chinmayi Sripaada Slams Sivaji Over Comments On Women's Clothing
Taking to her X account Chinmayi Sripaada mentioned the terms (slurs that men use for women) Sivaji used in his speech and pointed out that his speech reeked of entitlement. She also expressed her frustration at seeing how women are treated in public places.
Sharing a video of his speech, Chinmayi wrote, "Telugu Actor Sivaji doles out unnecessary advice to actresses using slurs like ‘D******** M****’ saying they need to wear Saris to cover their ‘S*****n’ - a word incels use. Actor Sivaji played a villain in a fantastic film and end up becoming the hero for incel boys. The point is - these are professional spaces where Sivaji is using words like ‘D******** M****’. He himself wears Jeans and Hoodie. He should wear only Dhotis and follow Indian culture. Wear bottu (bindi) and if he is married wear the Kankanam (bracelet) and Mettelu (toe rings) to signify he is married. Unbelievable how women are treated here. Just unbelievableHe will soon be seen in
