took to social media to mourn one of their own. Rob Reiner, son of the legendary comedian and writer Carl Reiner, was found dead at his Los Angeles home with his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, on December 14. Their son Nick Reiner has been arrested for their deaths and is in custody a day after their bodies were found. Filmmakers, collaborators, friends, and even a former US president took to social media to condole the death of the couple who were beloved within the Hollywood community. After Ben Stiller and Ron Howard, filmmaker Guillermo del Toro wrote a note to mourn the death of This is Spinal Tap director.
Guillermo del Toro calls Rob Reiner's death 'staggering loss'
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Guillermo del Toro stated, "Rob Reiner was a true and good human being and an extraordinary director. He was vital and honest and him and amichele (sic) were cornerstones of their community and committed to their art and the good of everyone around them. A staggering loss."
Earlier in the day, Ron Howard, who shared a career path similar to Reiner's, wrote, "He proved to be a superlative filmmaker, a supportive colleague and at all times a dedicated citizen. Rob will be missed on so many levels."Former US President Joe Biden also posted a heartfelt tribute to the couple and their legacy. He said on X, "Jill and I send our deepest condolences to everyone whose lives were touched by Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner’s extraordinary contributions. We take solace in knowing their work will live on for generations to come."

Maria Shriver mourns friends Rob and Michele
A devastated Maria Shriver, the ex-wife of actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, took to X and shared, "I loved Michele and Rob Reiner. They were among my closest friends. We raised our kids together, from mommy and me on up. We laughed together, we cried together, we played together, we dreamed together. We had dinner this past week, and they were in the best place in the their lives: loving one another, loving their friends, their family, their country. They never gave up on our country. They wanted to make it better. They always, always wanted to make our world better, and they were willing to fight to make it the country they loved.
She continued, "I loved them, and I knew they loved me, for any friend like that is such a gift. They gave me and all their friends that gift all the time. They loved their kids so much, and they never stopped trying to be really good parents. My love is with their family. I’m so sad for them. I’m devastated, gutted, shocked, stunned, and so deeply saddened, as are all of the people who loved them and who they loved. I hope people remember them as two deeply talented, kind, fun, loving, good, patriotic people who loved each other deeply. I’ll miss you, Michele. I’ll miss you, Rob. I love you both. Thank you for your friendship. God bless you both. Life will not be the same without you here, that’s for sure." According to the latest updates by the Los Angeles Police Department, Nick Reiner is being held with no bail. The Reiners' 28-year-old daughter, Romy, was the one who discovered her parents' bodies at home.
