Created by Sam Levinson, the cast of Euphoria, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi, are now big-time movie stars. Despite the middling reviews for the new season, audiences have been tuning in weekly for every episode of the show. Recently, HBO shared a post promoting the finales of its shows. Unlike Hacks and The Comeback, Euphoria Season 3 was marked as a season finale, not a series finale. Here's why fans think the show is coming back.

Is Euphoria Season 4 on the way?

A recent promo for the final episode of Euphoria advertised that it would be a "season finale" not a "series finale" on May 31, 2026. Other HBO shows such as Hacks, The Comeback and the limited series Half-Man are all ending in May. The Steve Carell starrer Rooster is labeled a season finale, as it has already been renewed for a second season. With HBO seemingly teasing a third season, things are looking up for the show. Fan comments on X also agreed that the show could not end yet.

Unlike other big global hits like Netflix's Wednesday and Amazon Prime Video's The Rings of Power which saw a decline in their second seasons, Euphoria has returned strong for its third season even after critics called its writing and direction poor. In the US, Euphoria's third season premiered with a 44 per cent increase from its second season with 8.5 million viewers in its first three days. HBO also shared the show trended on X and TikTok for six hours right after its premiere.

While HBO will want the creator Sam Levinson and its key talent to return, the young Hollywood stars' busy schedules will make it hard for them to figure out schedules together. After promoting upcoming releases Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Dune: Part III and The Odyssey this year, Zendaya is probably taking a break next year. Co-star Sydney Sweeney has The Housemaid sequel and the Gundam movie for Netlfix lined up, while Jacob Elordi has Ridley Scott's science fiction film The Dog Stars coming out this summer.

Since its release in 2019, Euphoria has become a bonafide Gen Z hit. The show's third season was hit with several delays, including the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike and the death of one of its stars, Angus Cloud, who played drug dealer Fezco. In the third season, Levinson has shown that Fez is alive but away in prison serving a 30-year prison sentence.
