Now, a new report has emerged that says that the former actor got in trouble with the police the night before. Jang Dong-joo has had a spate of misfortune lately after he shared that he was targeted in a hacking and blackmail incident that left him with severe financial losses. The 31-year-old star's retirement left fans wondering why he quit show business so suddenly. His problem with an unpaid bar bill in Seoul is the latest in a long string of woes.
Jang Dong-joo left without paying bill at Seoul club
According to
Allkpop's report, on May 14, actor Jang Dong-joo dropped in to an "adult entertainment establishment" in Banpo-dong, Seoul, where he racked up a bill of around 3 million KRW, which is around $2,200. The
Trigger star stated that an acquaintance would come by later to settle the bill and he received another 10 million KRW of store credit. But when no one showed up to pay up the bill until 3 am on May 15, the club had to resort to calling the police.
A source stated that Jang Dong-joo was allowed to return home after promising to pay up the 13 million KRW by 6 pm the next day. Later, his retirement post from acting went up, shocking media and his fans. His post stated, "As of today, I intend to lay down my life as actor Jang Dong Joo." He shared that every moment spent smiling and crying in front of the camera will remain with him as the brightest moments of his life. The actor has not responded to the allegations of the unpaid bill and his Instagram account has been scrubbed of his former life as an actor.
