And that too as a villain!Sushant, who portrays the fierce antagonist Amar Shetty in the film, took out time from his gruelling schedule for an exclusive interaction with Zoom, sharing, among other things why, after being associated with such high-energy, positive performances, he chose to mentally and emotionally prepare to debut with such an intense role.
"Honestly, I had never imagined myself playing a villain," he shockingly quipped, adding, "It was very new for me, and since I had only done dancing films before, I was a bit unsure whether I could pull it off.”Also Read: Kantara Chapter 1: Rishab Shetty Credits Yakshagana For Bringing 'Rooted Stories' Into His FilmsHowever, Wild Tiger Safari’s director was the one who convinced him to take on the challenge. “Chandramouli helped me a lot, and when I read the script, I really liked it. I’ve always been drawn to villains more than heroes since childhood. I didn’t know my first South film would cast me as a villain — but I took it as a challenge and opportunity,” Sushant revealed.Elaborating further, Sushant who revealed he loved characters like Joker, shared that when he got the chance to play a villain in a South Indian film written by the KGF writer, he knew no one could write better villains than him. “In KGF, Yash was technically a hero, but his arc was that of a powerful villain presented as a hero. I knew I wouldn’t get a better break than this, and I was sure I wanted to do it,” he confidently shared. Having transitioned from dance to cinema, Sushant shared that it is very rare for a background dancer to get an opportunity to act. "This journey is deeply personal to me. I’ve worked for over 20 years as a proper background dancer behind Govinda, Salman Khan, and many others. I didn’t come from reality shows or fame; I came from the ground level. From a batch of nearly 3,000 dancers, if even one of us makes it, it gives hope to others. If my story inspires even a few dancers to believe they can do it too, that’s the biggest reward. I feel truly grateful and happy that I got this chance,” Sushant signed off./images/ppid_a911dc6a-image-176466158253059048.webp)
