LIK Beats Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil
Pradeep Ranganathan’s Love Insurance Kompany (LIK) has managed to achieve a significant milestone early in its theatrical run. Within just four days, the film surpassed the lifetime collection of Jiiva’s Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, which stood at Rs 38.75 crore. With a global gross of Rs 40.09 crore, LIK has now secured its place among the top-performing Tamil films of 2026 so far.Despite entering the top-grossing films list group, the film’s growth trajectory suggests that it may struggle to climb higher. Films like Parasakthi (Rs 84.75 crore), Thaai Kizhavi (Rs 83.92 crore), and Youth (Rs 71.46 crore) are still far ahead, while LIK has only narrowly moved past With Love (Rs 39.74 crore).
LIK opened on a positive note, collecting Rs 7.05 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 7.95 crore on Saturday and Rs 7.50 crore on Sunday. The film showed stability on its first Monday, adding to its early momentum. By Day 5, the Tamil version contributed Rs 3.55 crore, while the Telugu dubbed version added Rs 0.60 crore. Overall, the film has earned Rs 25.5 crore net in India, translating to a gross of Rs 30.09 crore domestically. Overseas markets have chipped in with around Rs 10 crore, taking the worldwide total to Rs 40.09 crore. Produced on a budget of Rs 60 crore, the film has recovered only about 42 percent of its cost from Indian theatrical earnings.One of the key factors affecting LIK’s performance is its mixed reception. Audiences have appreciated Pradeep Ranganathan’s energetic screen presence and Anirudh’s music. At the same time, criticism has been directed at the film’s writing. Many viewers have pointed out that the storyline feels cliched, with weak story.

The story revolves around a company that insures love, using an advanced system to predict and control relationship outcomes. The hero relies on an app that calculates the success or failure of romantic relationships. However, things take a dramatic turn when he falls in love himself. As the system begins to interfere with his personal life, labeling his relationship as a failure, he understands that it manipulates emotions rather than predicting them.
The film features a strong supporting cast including SJ Suryah, Krithi Shetty, Yogi Babu, Seeman, Gouri Kishan, and Shah Rah.
