is officially bringing one of its most beloved modern animated classics to life. The live-action adaptation of Tangled has gone on floors, with Walt Disney Pictures finalising its lead cast. Rising Australian actress Teagan Croft and Disney Channel favourite Milo Manheim have been roped in to headline the film, stepping into the iconic roles of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. The project marks another major addition to Disney’s expanding slate of live-action reimaginings, following the success of several fairy-tale adaptations over the past decade. With a young, popular cast and a creative team experienced in musical storytelling, Tangled is shaping up to be one of the studio’s most anticipated releases.

Who are Tangled actors Teagan Croft, Milo Manheim?

Teagan Croft will portray Rapunzel, the spirited princess with magical golden hair who dreams of discovering the world beyond her tower. Croft is best known globally for playing Raven in DC’s Titans, a role she portrayed from 2018 to 2023 across multiple seasons. She also earned praise for her performance in True Spirit, the Australian Netflix film based on sailor Jessica Watson’s real-life solo voyage around the world. Croft’s ability to balance vulnerability with quiet strength makes her a natural fit for Rapunzel’s emotional journey.

Opposite her, Milo Manheim takes on the role of Flynn Rider, the charming and witty outlaw who becomes Rapunzel’s unlikely ally. Manheim rose to fame through Disney Channel’s hugely popular Zombies franchise, where he showcased both his acting and musical abilities across four films. He has since expanded his range with roles in the Paramount+ series School Spirits and on stage, playing Seymour in a revival of Little Shop of Horrors. As the son of acclaimed actress Camryn Manheim, Milo has steadily carved his own identity in the industry.

Michael Gracey is directing Tangled

Behind the camera, the live-action Tangled is being directed by Michael Gracey, known for musical spectacles such as The Greatest Showman and Better Man. Staying true to the animated original, the film will retain strong musical elements. Kristin Burr is producing the project, continuing her long association with Disney. The script has been penned by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.The casting follows an extensive global search, with finalists screen-testing in London late last year, as per The Hollywood Reporter. Croft and Manheim now step into roles originally voiced by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi in the 2010 animated hit, which is widely regarded as part of Disney Animation’s second renaissance. As production begins, expectations are high for this fresh take on a modern fairy-tale favourite.
