The 26-year-old was found dead at her paying guest accommodation in Mylasandra, Kengeri, Bengaluru. The reports suggested that the incident happened between 11:16 p.m. on December 28, 2025, and 12:30 a.m. on December 29, 2025. Around 9:15 a.m. on the same day, the police were notified of the case. The incident happened on the second level of the Kengeri PG.

The FIR stated that Nandini CM enrolled in an engineering program at RR Institute in Hesaraghatta after completing her PUC studies in Ballari in 2018. However, her interest in acting led her to discontinue regular college. She took training in acting in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. She had been living in PG accommodations in Bengaluru since 2019 and had featured in a number of Kannada television serials. She moved to the PG in Kengeri in August 2025. After her father passed away in 2023, Nandini was offered a government post on humanitarian grounds, however she reportedly turned it down, preferring to pursue a career in acting. This had led to multiple disagreements with her family.

According to police, Nandini CM went to her friend Puneeth's residence on December 28 and then returned to the PG at approximately 11:23 p.m., locking her room from the inside. Later, when Puneeth tried to reach her, she didn't answer. When the PG Incharge tried entering Nandini was found hanging from the window using a cloth after they pushed open the door. Emergency services were immediately notified. Kengeri Police immediately verified that she had passed away. According to Nandini CM's journal, she had expressed that she didn't want to work for the government and that she wanted to keep performing. She went on to reveal that her family didn't understand her feelings. The family declared that they have no suspicions or accusations against anyone in relation to her passing.
