Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s production house has announced the 'hatke' spy film Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, which marks Vir Das’ directorial debut and is slated to release on January 16, 2026.
The makers recently unveiled the film with an even funnier announcement video featuring Aamir and Vir Das. It was captioned: “From 'Kya BANAYA ' to 'KYA BANAYA ' Get ready for a wild ride of comedy, action, romance, and some spy stuff as well. Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, in theatres only from January 16, 2026.” Ahead of film's release, Vir Das had a hilarious time with Farah Khan as the director shot her new episode of Fun With Farah at actor's place. During the shoot, the two discussed many hits and flops of Vir and revisited many nostalgic memories.
Farah Khan, Vir Das' Fun Banter
While the upcoming film marks his first time directing under the banner, Vir’s association with Aamir goes back to
Delhi Belly, where he famously featured in the irreverent item number
Jaa Chudail. Talking about
Happy Patel, Vir revealed that the film draws heavily from Farah Khan’s brand of large-scale spoofs and pop-culture humour like
Tees Maar Khan. He said, "Anybody who likes Om Shanti Om will like this."
Later, Farah dropped a truth bomb and said, "When I watched
Andaz Apna Apna back in the day, I knew it would be a huge flop—and it actually was." To this, Vir replied, "
Andaz Apna Apna was a flop? Aamir never disclosed this to me."
Aamir Cut Vir's Song Out Of Jealousy: Farah
Farah then dropped another behind-the-scenes revelation. Calling Vir’s wife Shivani, she asked if she knew Farah had choreographed
Jaa Chudail. Shivani confirmed, calling the experience 'too much fun.' Farah went a step further, claiming the song was cut short because Aamir’s track followed next. "Aamir cut it out of jealousy," she joked. Vir pretended to defend the official explanation. "But I was told there were pacing issues," he said. Coming back to
Happy Patel, which is slated to release in January 16, 2026, also stars Mona Singh.
