Vij and Jay Bhanushali’s separation left their fans devastated. After almost 15 years of marriage and a daughter, the couple confirmed divorce on January 4. Besides their daughter Tara, Mahhi and Jay are parenting Rajveer and Khushi, the children of a househelp. Days after the divorce announcement, the Seher – Hone Ko Hai actress is being linked up with Nadim, a close family friend. On his birthday yesterday, Mahhi wished him with a picture on Instagram. Amid dating rumours, Ankita Lokhande slammed netizens for commenting on Mahhi and Nadim’s relationship. On Instagram, the actress defended her friend against trolls and extended support.

Ankita’s Instagram Story read, “Today I want to say something-not as a celebrity, but as a friend. I've been really disturbed by the way people are commenting on Mahi and Nadeem's relationship. I know Mahi, I know Nadeem, and I know Jai very well. And I need to say this clearly-Nadeem has always been a father figure to Mahi and Jay, and a father to Tara. That's it. Nothing else. Some bonds are built on respect, love, and years of trust and outsiders don't get the right to judge them.”She added, “As a friend, I can say this Nadeem is someone who has stood by people, including me, in difficult times. My respect for him is huge. Mahi and Jai, you're doing an amazing job as parents. God bless you, And to those spreading negativity-please stop. Let people live their lives. Karma is watching. On January 4, Mahhi and Jay’s joint statement read, “today, we choose to part ways on a journey called life, yet we continue to have each other's back. Peace, growth, kindness, and humanity have always been our guiding values. For the sake of our children - Tara, Khushi, Rajveer, we commit to being the best parents, the best friends, and whatever else it takes to do what is right for them.”They further wrote, “Though we walk separate paths, there is no villain in this story and no negativity attached to this decision. Before any conclusions are drawn, please know that we choose peace over drama and sanity above all else. We continue to respect one another, support one another, and remain friends, as we always have been. With mutual respect, we ask for your respect, love, and kindness as we move forward.
