What is the story about?
The
shocking news of an FIR filed against filmmaker Vikram Bhatt in an alleged Rs 30 crore fraud case has stirred major controversy in the film industry. The complaint, lodged by Dr Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira IVF, accuses Bhatt and seven others, including his wife Shwetambari Bhatt, of misappropriating funds under the pretext of producing a biopic in honour of Dr Murdia’s late wife. While the FIR outlines claims of deception and financial wrongdoing, Vikram Bhatt has strongly denied the allegations, calling the complaint 'misleading' and asserting that the police were misinformed.
What are the allegations against Vikram Bhatt?
According to the FIR filed at Bhupalpura police station in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Dr Murdia alleges that Vikram Bhatt and his team lured him into investing more than Rs 30 crore in a film project. They allegedly assured him that the film would generate profits of up to Rs 200 crore. The project was said to be a biographical film meant to pay tribute to Dr Murdia’s late wife. Names such as Mehboob and Dinesh Kataria have also been included among the accused.Vikram Bhatt DENIES allegations
However, filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has outright rejected the allegations. Speaking to NDTV after learning about the FIR, Bhatt said he came to know about the complaint only on Monday, November 17. He stated, "Yes, I found out today that Ajay Murdia, the founder of Indira IVF, has filed an FIR not just against me but against eight of us. I have read the FIR, and in my view, it is misleading. The police have been completely misguided because the things written in the FIR are absolutely wrong."Bhatt further suggested that forged evidence may have been used in the filing of the complaint. He claimed, "It's obvious that he must have created some fabricated, forged documents. I don't know what exactly, but there must be something he used to convince the police."Turning the allegations around, the filmmaker made his own accusations against Dr Murdia, saying that the doctor had abruptly halted the film Virat mid-production and failed to pay technicians. Bhatt stated, "He stopped the film Virat midway. And the payment that needs to be made to workers, about Rs 250 crore, has still not been paid. My technicians have called him. I think this is some tactic of his to avoid making payments."Vikram Bhatt also said that he is prepared to fully cooperate with the investigation. "I have complete evidence for it. So my request to the police is: if you need proof, come to me, I will show everything. After that, you will know who is right and who is wrong."As the case unfolds, both sides are presenting contrasting narratives, one alleging fraud and financial exploitation, the other pointing to forged documents and unpaid dues.Do you find this article useful?
