Shiny Hunter, you must have heard that name a lot last year. For those who are unaware, they are one of the most notorious groups of hackers who have consistently caused disruptions in various industries. And if all the reports are correct, this time, they have targeted none other than Rockstar Games to conduct a GTA 6 data breach. According to a report by The Cybersec Guru, the hackers have given Rockstar a deadline of April 14, 2026, to pay a ransom or the group will release the stolen GTA 6 data to the public. The message related to the breach was published on the dark web leak site on April 11 with a deadline of April 14 and a warning of public exposure if they fail. The case is pretty different because the attackers pointed to Anodot, a SaaS
platform used for cloud cost monitoring and analytics, as the entry point for the same. Shiny Hunters said, 'Rockstar Games, your Snowflake instances were compromised thanks to Anodot.com. Pay or leak. This is a final warning to reach out by 14 Apr 2026 before we leak, along with several annoying (digital) problems that’ll come your way. Make the right decision, don’t be the next headline.'What Could be The Future Of GTA Online After GTA 6?Other reports related to the matter confirmed that Anodot suffered a massive security breach due to which the attackers got a way to access customer environment via integrations. Furthermore, the attackers were also able to extract authentication tokens from Anodot that function as trusted credentials between services. With those tokens in hands, the attackers could Snowflake accounts without the requirement of exploiting vulnerabilities in Snowflake itself. And Rockstar has told Polygon on the matter, 'We can confirm that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach. This incident has no impact on our organisation or our players.'
