Indian
television actress Madalsa Sharma gained fame from the Hindi drama series Anupamaa. The drama gained popularity soon after its launch. She followed the fame and became a fan favourite for her portrayal in the show. The actress in a recent interview recalled her experience with the casting couch, which made her uncomfortable. She was asked to wear a bikini for the role, which she did not contest, but something unusual unfolded that made her turn down the offer. The shocker came for Madalsa Sharma when she realised such scenarios happened even when she was a teenager. Here’s how the actress handled the situation.
Madalsa recalls casting shocker
In her conversation with
The Male Female Podcast, the actress opened up about a shocking casting experience with a very renowned director from the industry. “A very renowned filmmaker had called me for a meeting,” Madalsa recalled and shared that she was just 19 when this happened. The director asked her if she was comfortable wearing a bikini, to which she thought as a genuine demand for the industry and agreed with him. Later, she wanted to understand the whole picture, as she says, “Though I was 19, I was smart.” She wanted to know if the costume change was justified.
Madalsa took firm stand
Madalsa later added on how the director wanted to see her in a bikini just to understand her ‘body language’ and wondered if she would be comfortable wearing it in front of the camera. To which she replied that, as her profession demands that she wear a bikini, she would wear a bikini as comfortably as she would wear a saree or a lehenga. “But to wear it in front of you is not a part of my job!” she denied firmly. Madalsa appealed to the filmmaker to cast her only if he finds her talented, and if not, then she knows where the door is. After a few days, she learned about the new actress cast for the project. The filmmaker and the actress who was cast were dating.
