Despite
competition from Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Bandar, and Masters of the Universe releasing on June 5, the Telugu film Peddi continued to dominate at the Indian box office. It officially crossed the Rs 100 crore mark on its third day as it looks ahead to a solid week. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the sports film led by Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor has been causing waves online since its release. The response to the film has been mixed and the makers have been criticised over the objectification of Janhvi's character.
Peddi Box Office Collection Day 3
According to Sacnilk, on its third day, the Telugu film earned Rs 28.85 crore nett from 9,018 shows, bringing its total collections to Rs 125.25 crore. It officially crossed the Rs 100 crore mark on day three and had a 7.2 per cent growth from the
second day. The Telugu and Hindi versions have been the most popular, with collections of Rs 25.60 crore and Rs 2.80 crore, respectively. The film was also released in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.

If the film does well on its first Sunday, it could easily cross the Rs 150 crore mark on its first weekend. However, the budget of the film is rumoured to be Rs 250 to 300 crore.

Written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi also stars Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, Ravi Kishan, and Boman Irani. The feature follows Ram Charan in the title role as he becomes a sporting hero as a 'cross-athlete' for his small village. Shiva Rajkumar essays the role of Gournaidu, Peddi's wrestling coach and mentor and Janhvi is Achiyamma, his love interest. Shruti Haasan has a special appearance in the song number Hellallallo, which also ran into some controversy before the release of the film.
