I've been a gaming enthusiast for a very long time now. The journey started with the desire to own a PlayStation 2 console, but was replaced with long hours at gaming parlours in childhood. After that, when I finally started earning and saving, purchasing a gaming laptop, back in 2023, felt like a logical decision so that it can help me in work and I can play games on it as well. It was all good, was trying new games, scoring screamers in EA Sports FC 24, did a rerun of GTA 5, and whatnot. But that excitement started fading after the first six months. What was supposed to strike a balance between gaming and professional work turned into a machine filled with mostly work, one notification here and one goal conceded there because of all the distraction.
And then it was just a showpiece used for mostly work because I was done with playing choppy games with messed up controls and slow response time, which I faced most of the times. Fast forward to July 2025, I purchased a PlayStation 5 after a long wait of around twenty years to own one. And then everything around me changed, and the way I perceived or wanted to feel while gaming changed and aligned in a way I wanted it to be. On that note, I'll let you have a look at the things that changed everything about the way gaming felt after switching to PS5.
Gaming On PS5 Just Felt Like It - Gaming Only
PC gaming is something that tests your patience on a lot of levels. The game is not opening, check the connection speed, update the drivers, verify files, and the list goes one. After that, connecting the controller is another pain, it straight up feels like what Gattuso said in a press conference - Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit. Now, I am not saying that there are no solutions - of course, solutions are there, but so is the process. And don't even get me started on turning all the operations in the background off so that the game performance runs smoothly. In case of PlayStation, I switch it on and just disconnect with the world in the blink of an eye. Here, I am not supposed to check the drivers or verify files - I just need to tap on the game tile and then get going with my favorite games. And while gaming on my PS5, I realized why gaming on my laptop always felt like a task. You want to play Ghost of Tsushima, tap the tile, and you are in. You want to play EA FC in between, just press the PS icon on the controller, go to home and get started with it to score the best goals of your life. It is that easy on PS5, and I am not even exaggerating.
Specs Are Not Everything - Difference Between Luxury And Experience
See, on paper, PS5 or any other console can't win in specs if someone get adamant to make their gaming PC feel like a machine that can control nuclear power plants as well. But, I was never a fan of permutations abd combinations - call me lazy if you want or call me someone who chases luxury if you want. Make your PC futuristic as much as you want, but still it can never match the luxury one feels when they hear the beep of their PS5, announcing that the beast is ready to give you the best gaming experience. And trust me, when you start gaming on PS5, experience will not even cross your mind because that console is like Itachi - and you are already in its genjutsu.
DualSense Controller Is The Real Life Mjolnir
The PS5 DualSense controller will literally change gaming for you. I mean, I can never stop loving it. And it is close to my heart that I even wrote a piece on my controller (by the way, he has a name, Shimachra). Coming to the experience, the haptic feedback feels truly on point, and the adaptive triggers will make you live in the game for sure. And that's not it, the touch pad in the controller is an OG, and the way Sony is making it more and more interactive is something that keeps me on my toes every time.
On A Concluding Note
I respect PC gaming, and I am not a hater, but yes, gaming on my console will always hold a special value - not because it only feels luxurious, but it has some emotional perspective in the background. And if you are a fan of live service games, then just try them once on a console, and you'll know what I am talking about here. At the end, I am just happy that gaming and professional life are on separate pedestals now - not only mentally but physically too.
