Triptii Dimri, a simple and gorgeous pahadi woman, made a quiet debut in the film industry. After years of struggle and honing her acting craft, she became the new-age face of Laila in the modern rendition of the epic love story, Laila-Majnu, in the Imtiaz Ali-backed film of the same name. Though the movie around unrequited love took its time to grab the audience’s attention, Triptii continued her journey with content-driven cinema. With no baggage of expectations or box-office pressure, she played the titular role in Bulbbul, a Netflix supernatural drama. It was a breakthrough movie for Triptii. On Valentine’s Day 2026 eve, Triptii’s latest film, titled O’ Romeo, will be arriving on the big screen. Post the COVID-19 pandemic, her career pivoted,
and she became one of the most sought-after actresses. Balancing content-driven roles with commercial characters, Triptii got the title of ‘National Crush’. Ahead of O’ Romeo’s much-anticipated release, let’s take a look at the box office performances of her last five theatrical movies.
Animal
Animal was Triptii’s first theatrical release after the success of
Bulbbul and
Qala on Netflix during the COVID-19 pandemic. She played the role of Zoya and her brief screen time had the maximum impact. Triptii was an important part of Animal; she was the femme fatale who enters Rannvijay’s (Ranbir Kapoor) world to spy on him. However, they end up sharing intimate moments before the big reveal. Triptii will have a prominent role in
Animal Park, the sequel, which is confirmed to go on floors in 2027.
Animal earned Rs 915 crore worldwide. It is her highest-grossing film to date.
Bad Newz
Following the
Animal craze, Triptii featured in Dharma Productions’
Bad Newz with Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk. She played Saloni Bagga in the film. The rom-com revolves around heteropaternal superfecundation, a reproductive process in which twins are born to the same mother, but from different biological fathers. While all the attention was on Triptii, especially after
Animal, the film had a decent run at the box office. It did an average business of Rs 113.75 crore. As per reports, the budget was Rs 80 crore.
Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video
After
Bad Newz, Triptii shared the screen with Rajkummar Rao in
Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. She was seen in the role of a newly married woman who spends an intimate night with her husband and accidentally, the CD that recorded their ‘woh’ moment, goes missing. With two phenomenal actors headlining the rom-com, expectations from the film were high. But, the box office performance of
Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video was average. It minted Rs 58.03 crore worldwide and the budget of the film was reportedly Rs 30 crore.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3
In the same year, Triptii returned to the big screen for the third time. Ending 2024 with yet another blockbuster, she featured as Meera in
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 with Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan and Kartik Aaryan. Her character was significant to the first half of the film. According to reports, the horror-comedy earned Rs 400.35 crore. It was a blockbuster movie.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 was said to be mounted on Rs 150 crore. Anees Bazmee directed it.
Dhadak 2
Hailed as one of the best films of 2025, Triptii’s
Dhadak 2 with Siddhant Chaturvedi, underperformed. Set against the backdrop of caste politics and romance amid chaos, this Shazia Iqbal film was critically acclaimed but not commercially profitable. Made on a budget of approximately Rs 60 crore,
Dhadak 2 earned Rs 32.61 crore.
O’ Romeo is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Co-starring Shahid Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Tamannaah Bhatia and Disha Patani among others, the film releases on February 13.
