Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 was initially slated for release on December 5, but as the date approached, advance bookings and ticket sales were somewhat underwhelming at the box office. However, after
the film’s release was postponed by a week, there has been a remarkable surge in advance bookings. A recent report suggests that the movie's advance ticket prices have soared and the movie is likely to have a record breaking opening.
Akhanda 2 advance ticket prices soar
As for ticket prices, there’s been a significant update. According to a report in Filmfare, originally, Telangana had not issued the necessary G.O. for ticket rate hikes just hours before the scheduled premieres. But now, a fresh G.O. has been issued for
Akhanda 2, which includes a ticket price increase for the premiere shows. These will be priced at Rs. 600, starting from 9 PM on Thursday. This hike will be in effect for the first three days only. For regular screenings, ticket prices have increased by Rs. 50 (including GST) for single screens and Rs. 100 (including GST) for multiplexes. The new prices will be Rs. 395 for multiplexes and Rs. 227 for single screens.

Extra revenue to be donated to Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation
The revised G.O. mandates that 20% of the extra revenue generated from these hikes be donated to the Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation, a move suggested by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. In Andhra Pradesh, the government has also given permission to charge Rs. 600 (including GST) for premiere tickets on December 11. From December 12 onwards, ticket prices for the following 10 days will see an increase of Rs. 100 for multiplexes and Rs. 75 for single screens.
Akhanda 2 postponed
A few weeks ago, buyers and industry insiders were growing concerned that Balakrishna was overdue to deliver a major hit.
Akhanda 2 seemed to lack the buzz needed to drive ticket sales, especially following the blockbuster success of the first installment. But things have changed dramatically in just a week. The film’s delay, due to a ruling by the Madras High Court over an unpaid arbitration by the producers, became a hot topic. The subsequent negotiations with stakeholders and the clearance from the court have only added to the growing excitement. The movie is set to hit the theatres on December 12, 2025.
