In a recent interview, the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 star talked about the insider-outsider debate in Bollywood. Kartik entered as a complete outsider, and it took him seven years to become a mainstream hero in Bollywood. Kartik believes in destiny and hard work. However, he also mentioned that outsiders have a different set of struggles in the industry. He feels the insider-outsider debate does matter in Bollywood.
Kartik Aaryan On Insider-Outsider Debate In Bollywood
Bollywood is infamous for nepotism, as many star kids often get trolled for being the insiders of the industry. Kartik had also faced a lot of hurdles in his career. He made his Bollywood debut in 2011 with the film
Pyaar Ka Punchnama. However, he had to wait for seven years until Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’s blockbuster performance. Kartik Aaryan feels that the insider-outsider debate is very important in the industry because people would get to know and understand the struggles of outsiders. In an interview with
Filmfare, the actor said, “If this debate didn’t exist, people wouldn’t understand the struggle of outsiders.”
Kartik also mentioned that star kids get money, work and success instantly, but the outsiders always have to compromise with everything that they do until they reach a certain level in their careers. The
Love Aaj Kal star stated, “When a big filmmaker launches someone, they begin from a much higher level. Outsiders don’t have money, perception or access.” During the initial phase of her career, Kartik Aaryan appeared in some films that turned out to be unsuccessful at the box office. He confessed that he did it due to necessity. Hence, he wouldn’t alter his past. Kartik admitted that he had fun doing all his films. However, the actor also confessed that his favourite film,
Akaash Vani’s failure, left him disappointed. He said, “It shattered my possibilities at that time.”
After the success of
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Kartik Aaryan didn’t look back and established his position in Bollywood as one of the most popular leading men. After SKTKS, he appeared in films such as
Luka Chuppi,
Pati Patni Aur Woh and so on. According to Kartik Aaryan, one film can make the actor or break him. He said, “One film can make or break you.” The actor also mentioned that talent matters more than connections. During his struggling days, Kartik faced a lot of rejections. He would often return home with tears in his eyes. He said, “I’ve seen people come from outside and go back because it just didn’t happen for them.” Kartik Aaryan also stressed that despite outsiders doing wonders in the industry, the differences still exist in showbiz. He feels grateful to be in such a position where he can choose what he wants to do after giving 200 per cent in his past films. We must say, Kartik Aaryan is following in the footsteps of Shah Rukh Khan, who became the king of Bollywood without any backup.
