Ustaad Bhagat Singh, starring Pawan Kalyan, is all set to premiere on Netflix on April 16. The announcement comes after days of speculation on social media regarding its digital release. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. The film marks the reunion of Pawan Kalyan and director Harish Shankar after 16 years. The duo had previously delivered the blockbuster Gabbar Singh, which remains one of the biggest hits in Telugu cinema.
This film also holds significance as it is among the first films released after Pawan Kalyan assumed office as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Released in theatres on March 19, Ustaad Bhagat Singh opened amid high expectations but failed to perform well at the box office. Speaking about online trolling, Harish Shankar said he does not take trolls seriously. In an interview, he said people tend to troll everything, but he chooses not to be affected by it. He added that many trolls operate without identity and accountability, often hiding behind fake profiles, whereas he stands by whatever he says publicly. The filmmaker also addressed how he deals with social media abuse, stating that trolling has become common for celebrities today. However, he only chooses to respond when things cross a line, particularly in cases of abusive language or personal attacks.

The story revolves around Bhagat Singh, played by Pawan Kalyan, a former police officer who now leads a quiet life in the Nallamala forest. The film takes a dramatic turn when a wealthy businessman arrives with his family for a pre-wedding celebration. His elder daughter, Shloka, portrayed by Raashi Khanna, Bhagat is tasked with ensuring their safety.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s son visits the forest for a private gathering, invited by a local figure played by Rao Ramesh. In a surprising twist, Bhagat kidnaps the Chief Minister’s son and hides him in the forest. Instead of involving the police, the Chief Minister, played by R Parthiban, seeks help from a militant group operating in the region. The film then unravels the reasons behind Bhagat’s actions, his past, and the mystery surrounding the former Chief Minister, portrayed by K S Ravikumar. The film’s music has been composed by Devi Sri Prasad, while Thaman S handled the background score.
