Dakota Fanning reveals why working with sister Elle will be special for first time
Since 2019, the Fanning sisters have been attached to
The Nightingale; the actresses are set to begin filming for the feature in 2026. At a press conference for her latest,
All Her Fault, Dakota shared her excitement over working with Elle for the first time. Dakota stated, "I am just as excited as everyone else seems to be. I'm happy. I think we're both happy that people are so excited. I feel like we have a lot to still do to get... You know what I mean? There's a lot to still do, but it's very fun, and we love getting to share everything. And this is the last thing that we haven't shared. This is the last piece of ourselves that I think we don't know about one another. We've never worked together. We've never been in a scene together. It'll be the last thing that we share with each other, so it'll be very special.

The Nightingale will be filmed in Europe, Dakota also discussed why she was drawn to the book adaptation. She said, "What we like about the story is I obviously love the story as a whole, but I think the characters, when you read the book and in the script, they have a lot apart as well as together. The times when the characters come together are very poignant and kind of important, obviously, but they also have two separate journeys that they also kind of go on, so I think that that's something that we have liked. Then in terms of just working together, we are going to have to see. I think there's going to be maybe some nervous giggles at first, but I think I'm not too worried about it. I think it's one of those things you just have to go for." Hannah's novel was published in 2025 and follows two sisters who embark on separate, dangerous paths during World War II in the fight for survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France. Produced by TriStar,
The Nightingale will be released in theatres on February 12, 2027.
