Hashmi is returning as Shivam in the much-awaited sequel to Awarapan. The Mohit Suri directorial gained cult status over the years after being rejected by the audience in theatres in 2007. 19 years later, the sequel gears up for an April 2026 release. Disha Patani joins Awarapan 2 as the leading lady, and Nitin Kakkar helms the romantic drama.

The shoot of Awarapan 2 is in full swing as it nears completion to meet its April 3, 2026, deadline. While Emraan and Disha shoot for the sequel, a picture from the set went viral on the internet. It featured the actor in a leather jacket, black T-shirt and pants. The actress was dressed in a simple printed ethnic suit.

Emraan Hashmi shares update on Awarapan 2

During an exclusive chat with Zoom, Hashmi shared an update on Awarapan 2 and said, “It’s got crazy music, it’s got fantastic, intense scenes. I’m not telling you anything right now, you’ll discover it when you see the film."He also shared, "Awarapan has been in discussion for almost six years. There was a conversation earlier, pre-COVID, and I said, 'How can you bring back Shivam?' The finality of the film was where he apparently dies. So there have been ideas and I think we cracked something really good in 2022, when my friend Bilal came with the script, which fits it to the T and takes that brand ahead."The actor further mentioned, "It doesn’t just do it to capitalise on Awarapan or its cult following — which it has, by the way. I realise whenever I meet fans, they’re like, 'We love these films,' but Awarapan has had a visceral, profound reaction from the audience and a fan following that has grown over the years — almost eight years. People even have Awarapan tattoos on their arms and all that."On March 24, Emraan confirmed Awarapan 2 with a teaser on social media. His caption read, “Bas mujhe kuch aur der zinda rakh… #Awarapan2 in cinemas, 3rd April 2026.”
