countdown to Ramesh Sippy’s epic Sholay's theatrical re-release featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra, has just started. As the film is set to celebrates its 50th anniversary, it’s set to make a grand return to the big screen on December 12. And who’s the most excited about it? None other than Abhishek Bachchan. Abhishek, the son of Amitabh Bachchan, is thrilled to finally experience the film in theaters.

Taking to X (Formelry Twitter), the
Big Bull star shared a poster of Sholay with a heartfelt message: “The greatest story never told! Can’t wait to witness Sholay in all its glory on the big screen. I have NEVER seen Sholay on the big screen, only on TV and VHS/DVD. It’s been a lifelong dream.”

Sholay to release with uncut version
What makes this re-release truly historic is the inclusion of the original uncut version of the film's climax - screened publicly for the first time in five decades. Originally altered due to censorship during India's Emergency period in 1975, the final sequence will now be shown exactly as director Ramesh Sippy had intended. Fans will finally be able to witness Sholay in its full, unedited glory.Sippy Films confirmed the restoration on social media, announcing, “‘Sholay: The Final Cut’ – In cinemas December 12, 2025. Experience the original uncut version for the first time ever, restored in 4K and Dolby 5.1 by Film Heritage Foundation.”
