Netflix India's slate announcement has revealed some interesting titles that will be released in 2026. Saif Ali Khan and Pratik Gandhi star in one of the streaming giant's upcoming projects titled Hum

Hindustani. Written and directed by Rahul Dholakia, the film is inspired by true events surrounding India's first-ever democratic election. Netflix India shared the first look of Hum Hindustani on YouTube. Set in 1950s (in India), the glimpse begins with Saif's character delivering a hard-hitting speech. He promises that India is about to attempt something that has never been done before. In an official statement, team Hum Hindustani shared that at the heart of this film lies ones of the most defining promises of newly independent India - the right to vote. "Telling the story of the country’s first democratic election through the eyes of those on the ground has been both a responsibility and a privilege. It is a story of belief, courage and collective effort that shaped the nation we know today," they said.For the unversed, Hum Hindustani has been produced by Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikkhil Advani. This newly announced film blends emotion, history and political intrigue. What is the plot of Hum Hindustani?According to media reports, this movie follows the group of government officials who are entrusted with the responsibility of organising India's nationwide election. It is set against the backdrop of colonial aftershocks, partition and social unrest. In Hum Hindustani, Saif will be seen playing the role of a principled officer while Pratik joins him as a fellow official. Together, their characters represent the administrative leadership and human sacrifices behind India's political milestone.
